Update v0.2.0

This is an update to the game which includes the following changes:

What’s New?#

We’ve finally moved on to v0.2.0!

We’ve improved lots of internal code and public facing features; Allowing developers to easily relearn potentially confusing parts of the codebase. Other visual changes and bugfixes has been implemented as well.

v0.2.0 orignally was supposed to have content added in so people could test some stuff, but we decided to hold it off for now as we focus on the main game mechanics and how it should work.

What’s Next?#

We’re planning to work on the game mechanics now, as we optimize our art creation pipeline. Previews will most likely have placeholder art, but those placeholders are needed to demonstrate certain game functionalities, i.e. animations, transitions, or some extra stuff as well.

We’re also beginning to start solidifying the game’s story as a whole, but not a per-scene basis. Story is important, and we’re working on at least the 2 of 3 story pillars.

Here’s insight from the project lead:

“The strategy ‘gamemode’ I concieved of is based on a game I enjoyed during my youth, and is part of the inspiration for the game mechanics we’re working on. I added tons of quality of life features, new mechanics, and stuff to make it unique. It’s sort of a numbers game, but the strategy potential is there. Lots of mechanics to add, and in theory; should work well together. But one of the things needed to make this game look good, is to have a good foundation. We’re working on making the animations system work well before programming the game mechanics.”

We are also planning on changing our site builder to something else. As well as planning to have more public outreach, like newsletters, and more blog posts. Lastly, a public roadmap will be available soon, and estimates for when limited testing will be available.
